HJF Global Infectious Diseases

Infectious disease remains one of the greatest threats to mission capacity and operational readiness of U.S. military forces. Infectious disease can also impact international stability by weakening economies, military and police forces, and government and social institutions.

Leveraging its extensive experience in international health and military medicine, HJF has helped build top-quality scientific and clinical teams who are combatting infectious disease threats worldwide. We work in collaboration with military partners including the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), the Uniformed Services University (USU) and the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC).

HJF and its subsidiary, HJFMRI, also work with WRAIR and local partners in four African countries to implement comprehensive PEPFAR-supported HIV prevention, care and treatment programs. The WRAIR PEPFAR and research efforts supported by HJF are collectively referred to as "HJF Global ID."

Some of HJF's infectious disease research programs include:

  • U.S. Military HIV Research Program at WRAIR (www.hivresearch.org)
  • Emerging Infectious Diseases Branch at WRAIR (www.eidresearch.org)
  • Austere environments Consortium for Enhanced Sepsis Outcomes at NMRC (www.aceso-sepsis.org)
  • Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Program at USU (idcrp.usuhs.edu)
  • Infectious Disease Surveillance with the U.S. Army Medical Research Directorate – Africa/Kenya (USAMRD-A)
